In addition to the admissions requirements for each program, international students must also submit the following materials:

  • Official Transcripts or WES (World Education Services) Course by Course Evaluation. See below.
  • TOEFL exam scores or other acceptable proof of English proficiency

  • A video interview may also be required before admission can be granted.

Students must submit all required application documents at least 90 days prior to the start of the term they wish to begin.

World Education Service Information

The World Education Service (WES) will evaluate foreign academic records and format them to a United States educational system equivalent. This is required of all students who have completed some form of education outside of the United States. Students may submit transcripts to the WES to begin the process. Those pursuing an undergraduate degree should submit any pre-collegiate transcripts, while those applying to a graduate-level program should submit any college or university courses taken for evaluation. Please visit their website (https://www.wes.org/) for further information.

The Graduate Admission Committee and the Office of Admissions retain the right to require a course by course evaluation through the World Education Services (WES) prior to the application review. An exception may occur for applicants to the College of Architecture + Design.

English Proficiency

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam is the standard method of evaluating a student’s proficiency in English. The minimum requirements are as follows:

TOEFL Paper-Based Test: 550
TOEFL Computer-Based Test (at a testing facility): 213
TOEFL Internet-Based Test: 79

Lawrence Tech also recognizes the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) as an acceptable method of demonstrating English proficiency. The minimum acceptable score on the IELTS examination is 6.0.

Video Interview

An interview conducted via video chat may be required. This is determined on a case-by-case basis. A student applying to an online program must be able to access a digital video camera on a regular basis to fully participate in coursework.

Disclosure to International Lawrence Tech Online Students

By participating in our distance learning option through LTU Online, the student recognizes they are waiving all rights to enrolling in coursework taught within the United States. This program is designed for students to obtain a degree while studying in his/her country. For this reason, Lawrence Tech will be unable to issue any documents for obtaining a non-immigrant student visa.
